At Malibu Beach Camp, we believe the secret to an unforgettable summer starts with our exceptional staff. Our team isn’t just skilled — they’re passionate, warm, and deeply dedicated to making every camper feel safe, supported, and inspired.
With a staff return rate of over 70%, our leadership team comes back summer after summer, providing consistency, energy, and experience that truly set us apart. Many of our team members are proud former MBC campers themselves — a true testament to the impact Malibu has on those who experience it.
Every staff member is carefully selected through a thorough interview and screening process, including professional background checks. Before camp begins (and throughout the season), all staff complete mandatory training to ensure the highest standards of safety, supervision, and camper care.

Our Supervisor Team is at the heart of the daily magic at Malibu Beach Camp — and we truly have the best of the best! From sun-up to sign-out, Stefanie, Nicole, Melissa and Tom bring unmatched energy, experience, and care to every corner of camp.
Each supervisor oversees their own division, working hands-on to create unforgettable moments, foster a fun and inclusive environment, and most importantly, ensure the safety and well-being of every camper. They’re also instrumental in training and mentoring our incredible counselors, and serve as a key connection between camp and home, always available to support and communicate with parents.
Every supervisor is certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED, giving you peace of mind while your child enjoys the summer of a lifetime.
Head COunselors
At Malibu Beach Camp, our Head Counselors are the heart of each camper group — the go-to leaders who guide, support, and inspire your child every single day. As the primary caregivers, they’re responsible for creating a positive, structured, and nurturing camp experience from morning check-in to the final high five.
From organizing exciting activities to encouraging personal growth and independence, our Head Counselors lead with warmth, energy, and dedication. They’re not just leaders for our campers — they’re also trusted mentors for junior staff.
Many of our Head Counselors are college students, graduates, and educators, bringing valuable experience, enthusiasm, and professionalism to everything they do. At MBC, they’re more than counselors — they’re role models who help make every summer unforgettable.
Assistant Counselors
Our Assistant Counselors bring endless enthusiasm, positivity, and dedication to each day at Malibu Beach Camp. Working alongside our Head Counselors, they help ensure every camper is safe, supported, and truly loving their summer experience.
These spirited team members are always in the action — playing games, cheering campers on, and encouraging them to try new things and reach their full potential. Their presence is a big part of what makes camp so exciting and memorable.
Most of our Assistant Counselors are students entering 11th or 12th grade in the fall, gaining valuable leadership skills, real-world experience, and a deeper connection to the Malibu community. They may be young, but their impact is huge — and their spirit is contagious!
Counselors in training
Some of the most unforgettable summers at Malibu Beach Camp begin in our Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program! Designed for campers entering 9th and 10th grade, this unique experience blends fun, friendship, and hands-on learning in a closely supervised environment.
CITs gain valuable insight into working with children and collaborating with staff, all while developing key skills in leadership, responsibility, and communication. The program strikes the perfect balance between responsibility and recreation, allowing teens to enjoy the spirit and traditions of Malibu while preparing for future roles as Assistant Counselors.
Through mentorship, teamwork, and active participation in the camp community, CITs grow in confidence and build lasting relationships — laying the foundation to become the next generation of MBC role models.
Specialists
At Malibu Beach Camp, our Specialists bring expertise, enthusiasm, and energy to every activity they lead. These talented individuals are highly trained in their specific fields and have years of hands-on experience, making them true pros at what they do — and it shows!
From Dance, Music, and Theater to Arts & Crafts, Swim, Cheer, and Project Adventure, our specialists create dynamic, skill-building experiences that keep campers engaged, challenged, and excited to come back for more.
Their passion is contagious, their guidance is inspiring, and their impact lasts far beyond the summer!
